Why MoneyMax

How we lend

We're a local, licensed lender in Pompano Beach. These are the rules we run on.

We lend what your car can carry

We lend a conservative share of your car's wholesale value. That keeps your payment realistic and makes it far less likely you'll ever lose your car.

Every cost in writing

You see your APR, finance charge, payment and total of payments on your Truth in Lending disclosure before you sign. No application fee on title loans, and no prepayment penalty on any loan.

Repossession is the last resort

If money gets tight, call us. We'd rather work out a payment plan than take your car.

Local and licensed

Licensed by the Florida Office of Financial Regulation under the Consumer Finance Act. Serving Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade from Pompano Beach.

How it works

Cash from your car in three steps

For car title loans, most customers finish in one visit or one call. There's no credit check. We look at your vehicle's value and your income.

STEP 1

Get a quote

Tell us your car's year, make, model and mileage. A loan specialist calls you with an estimate.

STEP 2

Quick inspection

Bring your car, title and ID to a location, or send photos. We confirm the value and review your income.

STEP 3

Sign and get paid

Review your loan disclosures, sign, and get your money by check, direct deposit or debit card. You drive home in your own car.

What to bring

What you need for a car title loan

Have these ready and your loan moves faster. For a micro loan, bring your ID, proof of income, proof of address and your bank account details.

Florida title, lien-freeThe car must be paid off and titled in your name.
Government photo IDValid driver's license, state ID or passport.
Proof of incomePay stubs, bank statements, benefits or self-employment records.
Proof of addressA recent utility bill, lease or bank statement.
The vehicleFor a short inspection in person or by photos.
Proof of insuranceCurrent Florida auto insurance on the vehicle.

Optional protection

If your car is totaled, your loan doesn't have to follow you

Vehicle Debt Cancellation (VDC) cancels your remaining loan balance if your car is declared a total loss or is stolen and not recovered. Prepaying months of full-coverage insurance up front isn't realistic for most people, so VDC gives you another way to protect yourself.

  • It's your choice. Take VDC, show us your own full-coverage insurance, or decline both.
  • Same loan either way. Your approval, amount and interest rate don't change based on your choice.
  • In writing. The VDC price and terms are on their own form, separate from your loan, and you sign to choose it.

Lien recording fees and Florida documentary stamp tax required by law may be added to your loan. Your actual rate, APR, amount and term depend on your vehicle's value, your income and other factors. Maximum term is 16 months. Interest rates comply with Florida Statute §516.031, which caps interest at 36% per year on the first $10,000.

Truth in Lending disclosure

Before you sign, we give you a written federal Truth in Lending disclosure for your loan. It shows:

Annual Percentage Rate
The cost of your credit as a yearly rate
Finance Charge
The dollar amount the credit will cost you
Amount Financed
The amount of credit provided to you or on your behalf
Total of Payments
What you will have paid after making all payments as scheduled

It also lists your payment schedule, late charges, the security interest in your vehicle for car title loans, and your right to prepay with no penalty. Read it before you sign, and ask us about anything you don't understand.

Know the difference

An installment loan, not a 30-day title loan

In Florida, car-secured loans can be made under two different laws. Here's how ours compares.

MONEYMAX · FLORIDA CONSUMER FINANCE ACT (CH. 516)

Auto equity installment loan

  • Fixed monthly payments that pay down principal and interest
  • Terms up to 16 months with a set payoff date
  • Amounts up to $10,000
  • Pay off early at any time with no prepayment penalty
FLORIDA TITLE LOAN ACT (CH. 537)

Traditional 30-day title loan

  • Due in full in 30 days
  • Extended in 30-day periods by separate agreement
  • Borrowers who can't pay in full may extend repeatedly
  • A different license and rate structure

FAQ

Common questions

Do I get to keep my car?

Yes. You keep driving it the whole time. We record a lien on your title as security for the loan, and we release it when the loan is paid in full.

How much can I borrow?

Car title loans go up to $10,000, based mostly on your vehicle's wholesale value plus your income and ability to make the monthly payment. First-time micro loans range from $500 to $1,000, and customers with 6 on-time payments can qualify for up to $1,500.

Do you check my credit?

Not for car title loans. Your car is the collateral, so approval is based on your vehicle's value, proof that it's yours free and clear, and your income. Micro loans don't use your car, so they do require a credit check.

What is a micro loan?

A small installment loan that doesn't use your car as collateral. First loans range from $500 to $1,000. We check your credit and income, size your payment to fit your budget, and you repay in fixed monthly payments with no prepayment penalty.

Can you pay off my title loan with another company?

Yes. Choose "Switch my loan" on the quote form. We get your payoff amount, pay your current lender directly, and handle the title paperwork. You then make one fixed monthly payment to MoneyMax, and you can take extra cash if your car's value allows.

What is Vehicle Debt Cancellation?

An optional agreement that cancels your remaining loan balance if your car is totaled or stolen and not recovered. You can choose it, provide your own full-coverage insurance instead, or decline both. Your loan terms are the same whichever you pick.

Does my car have to be paid off?

For a new title loan, the title should be in your name and free of other liens. If you owe another title lender, choose "Switch my loan" and we'll pay them off as part of your MoneyMax loan.

What happens if I miss a payment?

Call us right away. We'd rather set up a payment plan than take any other action. A late fee may apply after 12 days. If a car title loan stays in default, your vehicle can be repossessed, so only borrow what you can repay.

Can I pay off my loan early?

Yes. There's never a prepayment penalty, and paying early lowers the total interest you pay.

What fees are there?

Car title loans include the state's lien recording fee and Florida documentary stamp tax, with no application fee. Micro loan fees are listed in your loan disclosure. Every fee appears in writing before you sign.

What vehicles qualify?

Cars, trucks, SUVs and vans registered and titled in Florida. Motorcycles, RVs and commercial vehicles are reviewed case by case.
